There is seriously no better gift than photos.
I love, love, LOVE being a gift to someone. In all the loaded ways you could take that, haha.
For yearrrrrs, after I shuttered my first try at a studio, I took photos for people for fun, and as a gift to people I loved. That 12 year gap in my "working" years isn't actually a gap in work...I was just busy trading Joy with people! I love taking photos, people love being in photos...or, well, most Mamas love being in photos with their families :) so that's what I focused on.

It had been a minute since this family was in front of a camera together.
The littlest Morris wasn't even earth-side last time! As we got everyone into place in our first location here, Danielle said "You'll have to tell us what to do!"--I hear that all the time, no worries!
And THEN. After I kind of briefly explained how to settle into a pose, every last one of them proceeded to fall into the most gorgeous, natural positions and expressions. LOVE when that happens! The longer we were together, the more laughs and interactions poured out, and the warmth between this family was just spilling out. They are so genuine and kind, and it was a beautiful, connected, comfortable session. My favorite kind.
I can hear you, by the way.
"Amy. I'M SO AWKWARD. I want photos like this but I don't know how to do it?!"
Did you pay attention to how I told that story? They thought that too. BUT. They trusted me.
Trusting your photographer is such a huge part of having a successful session. Ah. Another soapbox for another time ;)
Thank you, Morris Family!
For a sweet session full of laughs and chatting about music and golf and college and leg day 😉❤️
